Irving Salinas, MS, MPAS, PA-C

Born and raised in the Rio Grande valley, I started my undergraduate career at the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biology Pre-Med. During my undergraduate career, I was also involved in various research laboratories that focused on endocrinology-based projects. This triggered my curiosity in biomedical sciences which led me to pursue a Masters degree in Physiology from Michigan State University. During my graduate studies, my thesis involved elucidating androgen (male hormones) actions in the liver in a polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) primarily using a mouse model. After my graduate studies, I then transitioned from bench to bedside and worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator during the COVID-19 pandemic. Clinical trials that I was a part of focused on COVID-19 vaccines and fatty liver trials. I also obtained my Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies from UTRGV.

Now as a board-certified Physician Assistant, my goal is to use a holistic approach to medicine. With my bilingual language proficiencies in English and Spanish, I’m able to communicate complex medical concepts in an understandable manner that fosters patient relationships, facilitates informed decision-making, and promotes a compassionate and empathetic patient care approach. Moreover, my background in research equips me with an evidence-based approach, while my strong communication skills foster patient trust and informed decision-making.
